Disney Infinity Review

Here’s another one for the Christmas list folks and it comes courtesy of everyones favorite animation company Disney. You know, Snow White, Monsters Inc, Pirates of the Caribbean, Cars… I could go on but I fear I would run out of room!

Hot on the heals of the New Furby Boom that is set to be a toy game changer, Disney Infinity is set to be a game changer in the world of computer games.

Here’s a little bit of what you can expect:

Straight from the official Disney PR..

Disney Infinity is an all- new game universe where a spark of imagination unlocks a fantastical world! Players have unprecedented freedom and endless opportunity to create stories and play experiences starring the beloved characters from Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios’ most popular franchises.

Players will place real-world interactive figures – characters, power discs and Play Set pieces – on a device called the “Disney Infinity Base” to activate original, story-driven adventures in the game worlds, also known as Play Sets, where players will complete a variety of quests. As players advance through each adventure, they can collect characters, vehicles, upgrades, gadgets and more which they can save to a virtual Toy Box. At any time, players can access their personal Toy Box and use the items to create one-of-a-kind Disney adventures featuring any combination of characters, environments and items. The possibilities are endless!

Disney Infinity is launching with four unique game worlds known as Play Sets, based on Monsters University, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Incredibles and Cars. In each respective Play Set players will take on the role of a variety of popular characters including Sulley, the naturally gifted scarer; Captain Jack Sparrow, the sword-wielding double crosser; and Mr. Incredible, one of the world’s greatest crime-fighters. Once in character, players will solve challenging puzzles, overcome obstacles and complete a variety of other unique quests.

Pretty much anything! The toy box lets your creativity run free. Players can mix and match any characters and create their own unique play experiences. Build your own worlds, create games and throw in vehicles, environments and gadgets you’ve collected along the way, the only limit is your own imagination!

I personally have a HUGE affinity towards real things and real toys and so this is something of a shift for me because I actually think that this will be a great addition to the kids toy box, heck it could be their ONLY toy box!

Having had the pleasure of talking to one of the creators John Day recently and for an American who actually GOT my slightly sarcastic English sense of humour he was a decent guy. And for someone who lists Mary Poppins as one of his all time favorite films, he’s alright by me. Looking at the game it’s obvious he know a thing or two about making games. We’ll see how it goes on August 22nd when it’s officially released.

Enough already… Show us the video!

Ok, here it is…

Thanks for watching and you don’t have to thank me for helping your kids and their Christmas toy list, it’s my pleasure :)

To Infinity…. and beyond!
