Hi there and welcome to this weeks edition of Breakfast with Baker.
If you’re listening in live to the breakfast show, thank you for being a loyal listener and if you’re here and have never heard the show then the 2 ways to listen are:
This is going to be a ground breaking sort of a post because i’m going to be LIVE POSTING from the studio on tomorrow mornings breakfast show! Yes i’m sat writing this on my sofa at 9pm Wednesday night planning the rest of this show.. Oh the life of a Radio announcer hey :)
I’m going to put a few things on here to kick thing off and then i’m going to live post any breaking news, the songs i’m playing and any other things that are relevant to the show or the station.
Don’t forget, if you’re not a subscriber to FM99.3 and you like what you’re listening too then you can subscribe by calling the station on +61 9419 6969 and any of the announcers will sign you straight up!
Just before I crack on with things there are a couple of giveaways I have to tell you about:
So, here are the things that have caught my eye this week:
We’ll start with Sport and the Tour de France.
Now I know Team Sky’s Chris Froome won the race and destroyed all other challengers but it’s this guy that really caught my eye. Lieuwe Westra quit the race only 39km from the finishing line!
Can you imagine riding 3,404 kilometres – including over some of the most brutal mountains you could imagine and not be able to cross the finishing line.. I for one can understand why he threw in the towel but I really believe that they would have let him finish despite the time rules and I truly believe that the crowd would have totally carried him around the final lap or so.
To give you some idea of how close to the finish that is, it would be the equivalent of running a marathon then having to give up with about 500m to go.
“How hard can a sport be?” Westra wrote on Twitter. “I kept going for three days while sick just to finish the race then I got dropped on the finishing circuit.”
Therefore, poor old Lieuwe Westra deserves a mention after a heartbreaking tale unfolded at this year’s Tour.
Now it’s some local news and the Pacific highway has been voted the worst road in NSW
Here’s the interview with George Elliot from the show
Mike Hussey talks Simon Katich and Ashes with Johnny Greco
Rovin Van Persie was in town last week with his Man Utd team mates and heres what he had to say..
