Breakfast Radio In Sydney – Breakfast with Baker
Hello and welcome to Breakfast with Baker, your every Thursday instalment of community radio live from the heart of Sydney’s North Shore.
This is where i’ll share the stories that i’ve found over the week that i’ll talk about during the show and if you have any that you find then please feel free to put the link in the comments box below or send it via the contact me page. The funnier, interesting or down right weird the better! I cover all of the ‘Normal’ stuff like weather, traffic & travel, news & sport. Sport is covered by Johnny Greco who is on at 7.45am for a round-up of all the top sporting events from the previous 7 days and there’s always something to have a laugh about!
You can also drop any song requests and roughly what time you’ll be listening in, in the comments box below and i’ll do my best to dig it out of the back catalogue as close to the time as I can. News, ad’s and traffic permitting of course.
Hope you enjoy the show!
Jolly Northern Beaches beauties are up and running for Santa Fun Run
Northern beaches running coach, Lizzie Mason is training close to 20 learn-to–run local ladies to get fit and paint the town red and white! The group, who meet for regular five kilometre training runs at Narrabeen Lake, is among the eager Santas who have already registered to be a Claus for a cause and is warming up for some seasonal antics at the upcoming 2014 annual Variety Santa Fun Run!
This year, masses of Santa Claus’ will come to every state in Australia – running, walking and even rolling in strollers and wheelchairs as they “Ho! Ho! Ho!” on their merry way to raise funds for Variety – the Children’s Charity and Aussie kids in need.
For the members of the niche Northern Beaches business, Beauty of Exercise training group, running the entire Variety Santa Fun Run is an achievable festive goal. I caught up with Debbie from the group and here’s what she had to say:
Sydney’s bighearted Santas will hit the pavement on December 7 for the 6th annual Variety Santa Fun Run, starting at 8:30am at Darling Harbour’s Palm Grove and meandering five kilometres through the city before finishing in a magnificent mass on the steps of the Sydney Opera House. Along the way, participants can look forward to joyful Christmas themed entertainment including Santa’s Reindeers, Bash cars, roving performers, big bands and roaming photographers capturing magic moments along the way. There’s even a chance participants might get snapped with some celeb Santas including children’s performer, Sam Moran!
A snazzy Santa suit is FREE with every entry to make sure you fit in with the sea of Santas! In fact, the light cotton shorts, top, belt, hat and beard pay homage to a summery Aussie Christmas and ensure a cool and happy-go-lucky group of Santas.
The occasion is an opportunity to take part in a fun filled community event whilst doing something for the greater good. Variety is encouraging all participants to fundraise to help support Aussie kids who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs, this Christmas and beyond.
